West Ham set to learn Europa Conference League fate ahead of play-off round tie

West Ham United will learn who they will face in the Europa Conference League’s play-off qualifying round on Tuesday evening.

A week ago, the Hammers learned that they will face the winners of the third qualifying round tie between Danish side Viborg and Torshavn B36 from the Faroe Islands in the last round of qualifying before the competition’s group stages.

In the first leg between the two sides, Viborg recorded a 3-0 win on home soil last Wednesday night, giving them a significant advantage going into Tuesday night’s second leg in Torshavn.

Kick-off between the two sides is at 6pm (UK time) and winner on aggregate, likely to be Viborg, will play the Hammers over two legs later this month for a place in the group stages.

While dates and times are yet to be officially confirmed, the first leg is due to take place on Thursday, August 18 at the London Stadium, with the return leg taking place in either Denmark or the Faroe Islands a week later on Thursday, August 25.

Last season, the Hammers reached the semi-finals of the Europa League before being knocked out by German side and eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt, knocking out Sevilla and Lyon in the group stages in their run to the final four.
