West Ham set to face Man City in Shanghai during summer tour of China

West Ham are set to take part in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China this summer as part of their pre-season preparations for the 2019-20 campaign.

The Hammers have been invited to take part in the Far East tournament along with Manchester City, Wolves and Newcastle.

The Premier League are set to confirm the participants this month but West Ham have agreed to play in the Asia Trophy, which this year is being held in Shanghai in July.

Manuel Pellegrini spent two years at Chinese Super League club Hebei China Fortune and has approved the club travelling long-distance during pre-season.

West Ham’s participation in the tournament could see Marko Arnautovic in China, after his proposed move to a Chinese Super League club in January fell through.

Meanwhile, Robert Snodgrass has been charged by the FA with alleged abuse of an anti-doping official at West Ham’s training ground last month.

Snodgrass was not selected for testing and did not refuse to be tested. The 31-year-old Scottish midfielder has been given by the FA until March 18 to respond to the charge.

There has been no indication of what punishment Snodgrass could face if he is found guilty. Bury manager Ryan Lowe was given a two-match stadium ban and fined £1,500 by the FA last year for an “abusive, insulting and improper” reaction to a visit from anti-doping officials.
