West Ham women have relieved head coach Rehanne Skinner of her duties with the Irons sat second-bottom of the WSL.

Skinner’s Irons have taken just five points from their first 11 matches of the season, and now find themselves on a three-match winless run ahead of a League Cup quarter-final clash with Man City on Sunday.

Her final appearance in the West Ham dugout resulted in a 2-2 home draw with Liverpool, who are bottom of the WSL and were left with ten players from the 19th minute after a red card to Gemma Bonner.

A club statement released on Thursday read: “Recent results have not matched expectations and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary to help improve the team's position in the Barclays Women’s Super League as soon as possible.

“The Board would like to thank Rehanne for her hard work and commitment during her time with the Hammers and wish her every success for the future.”

Skinner, 46, signed with the Hammers in the summer of 2023, finishing ninth and eleventh in previous WSL campaigns. She also led the side to the League Cup semi-final last season but was beaten 2-0 by eventual champions Chelsea.

She leaves the club with a win record of just 18 per cent.

Following Skinner’s departure, the WSL features just four female coaches.

Before taking over at West Ham, Skinner spent three years in charge of Tottenham, and enjoyed served stints as an assistant coach for the England and Wales national sides.
