West Ham's under-23 youngsters set for loan spells away as Nathan Holland joins Oxford

Two of West Ham's very talented youngsters could soon be joining Nathan Holland in moving away from east London for the rest of the season to gain senior experience.

Holland, 21, has joined League One side Oxford United, a former home for loanees Toni Martinez and Marcus Browne, on a six-month loan deal until the end of campaign having banged in 14 goals from 18 games for the under-23s as they sit four points clear atop PL2 division two.

Midfielders Conor Coventry and Joe Powell could also make moves away from Chadwell Heath in the not too distant future and both are being lined up by another League One side, Lincoln City.

Coventry recently penned a new contract with West Ham until 2023 in a protracted saga that saw other clubs tentatively enquire for his services. The under-23s captain is on the verge of a breakthrough to the first team but with the team still in relegation danger, it would be unlikely to happen this season.

There are rumoured to be other clubs interested in Coventry and Powell, not just the Imps.

Powell has already had a loan spell away from the club as he spent six months on loan at Northampton Town last season. Powell has scored four goals and bagged four assists from midfield already this season.

Football.London asked first manager David Moyes last week about the potential of blooding youngsters in this season and he seemed to hint that is something he wouldn't be exploring, hence allowing Holland to depart on loan and others set to follow.

Last season, allowing players to leave on loan actually counted against the Hammers youngsters as they were relegated from division one of PL2 as the likes of Moses Makasi, Josh Cullen, Powell, Oladapo Afolayan, Reece Oxford, Martin Samuelsen and Sead Haksabanovic all spent time away from the club to gain first team experience.

Samuelsen and Haksabanovic are both back with West Ham after their loan seasons in Sweden and Norway ended.
