West Ham's under-18s continue high-flying form against Chelsea with comeback victory

West Ham United's under-18s have moved 12 points clear at the top of the Under-18s Premier League South table with a 4-2 win over Chelsea.

The Hammers were forced to come from behind at Cobham with the Blues going 1-0 up after just five minutes when Donnell McNeilly controlled Tudor Mendel-Idowu's cross and finished in the top corner.

Just nine minutes later, Chelsea doubled their lead when Leo Castledine converted from the penalty spot.

From that 15 minutes drop-off where Chelsea went 2-0 up, the Hammers looked in control but took until the hour mark to get on the scoresheet. Captain Kaelan Casey’s long pass sent Callum Marshall through on goal, and his run and finish got a goal back for West Ham, finishing across goal and into the far corner.

A minute later, Giedon Kadua levelled the tie off the substitutes bench to make it 2-2 before Casey headed in an Ollie Scarles free-kick at the back post to put West Ham ahead for the first time.

Striker Divin Mubama, who has been in good form recently, did not score but did get an assist in stoppage time, putting Kadua through on goal to net his second of the game with the final kick of the game to make it 4-2.

Kadua’s double saw West Ham make it nine wins from nine in the league this season, moving 12 points clear of second-place Tottenham Hotspur, who recorded a 3-0 win over Norwich City on Tuesday.

West Ham host Spurs in a top of the table clash at 11am on Saturday morning, their final home league match before Christmas.
