West Ham's squad value revealed as Fornals move only brings small increase

West Ham's entire squad is worth more than it was this time last season - but not by a lot despite the signing of Pablo Fornals from Villarreal.

The Spaniard arrived for a £25m fee to become the second most expensive signing in the club's history but according to figures compiled by Transfermarkt , it has only brought an increase of £4m in total value compared to the squad that started the season under Slaven Bilic in 2017/18.

That is down to the Hammers releasing a few players so far this summer and also selling Edimilson Fernandes and Lucas Perez and the figures are a tad distorted from the season before when the £30m rated Joao Mario was on the books, as was £13m valued Joe Hart but both were only at the club on loan.

The current figure of the squad Manuel Pellegrini has at his disposal is £312m compared to £308m when Bilic was at the helm.

Players like Winston Reid have seen their market value more than halved after not playing at all in 2018/19 thanks to a serious knee injury, Pedro Obiang has also lost a lot of market value.

Felipe Anderson is only valued at £36m despite West Ham paying £42m for him last summer but some other signings under Mario Husillos' watch have seen their market values go up.

Issa Diop was signed in a deal eventually worth £25m and is now valued at £31.5m and Fabian Balbuena arrived for £4m but is now worth a cool £10.5m to the club after just one season in the Premier League.

Andriy Yarmolenko's £18m arrival to the club reflects his market value as that hasn't changed but Ryan Fredericks has seen his value increase by £4.5m over the season.

The Hammers most valuable player shouldn't come as much as a surprise - Declan Rice has a market value of £40.5m but if West Ham ever did sell him, they'd want at last double that.

Below is a breakdown of what the Hammers squad is worth according to Transfermarkt :

Goalkeepers

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m); Roberto (£1m); David Martin (£1m)

Ryan Fredericks (£4.5m); Pablo Zabaleta (£3.15m); Sam Byram (£3.15m); Aaron Cresswell (£9m); Arthur Masuaku (£6.3m); Issa Diop (£31.5m); Angelo Ogbonna (£7.2m); Fabian Balbuena (£10.8m); Winston Reid (£4.5m)
