West Ham’s Ravel Morrison considers overseas move at end of season

Ravel Morrison is prepared to wait until the end of the season before leaving West Ham and the England Under-21 midfielder is considering offers to move overseas when his contract expires.

Morrison, 21, has been told he is free to leave Upton Park having fallen out with the manager, Sam Allardyce, last season and he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.

He played his last game for West Ham in the 3-1 defeat by Southampton at the end of August and was then sent out on loan to Cardiff. That was cut short in December, after a mere seven appearances for the Championship club, when the manager, Russell Slade, said he had “no future” at the club.

West Ham will accept a nominal fee for a player they paid around £1.5m to sign from Manchester United in January 2012.

However, despite interest from Lazio in taking him in this transfer window, Morrison is willing to let his contract expire in the summer before moving on a free transfer. Clubs in several top leagues including Spain and Germany are also interested in signing a player who was hailed as the best United player Sir Alex Ferguson has ever seen at the age of 16.

Morrison has endured a string of off-field problems but was cleared of assaulting his former girlfriend and her mother by a court last month.
