West Ham's Lucas Paqueta posts message ahead of Tottenham trip after Chelsea injury scare

Lucas Paqueta says he is recovering well after picking up a shoulder injury in West Ham United’s draw against Chelsea at the weekend.

The Brazilian was forced off after just 14 minutes against the Blues after landing awkwardly when contesting for the ball, appearing in discomfort with his right shoulder.

Tomas Soucek came on to replace him with Joao Felix opening the scoring for Chelsea shortly after. The Hammers got back on level terms when former Blues full-back Emerson popped in the equaliser just before the half hour mark.

Paqueta’s injury was more concerning due to the fact the midfielder had suffered a collarbone injury against Southampton in October, an issue which kept the big money summer signing sidelined for three consecutive Premier League matches, including trips to Liverpool and Manchester United.

The severity of the latest injury could not be immediately determined post-match, but Paqueta has now issued an update ahead of Sunday’s away fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. “Passing by to thank everyone’s messages,” Paqueta posted on Instagram.

“One more scare, the same shoulder as before just other ligaments, but at least the worst of the problems! Been feeling a lot less pain and I’m recovering well hopefully be back soon.”

West Ham will be looking to extend a three-game unbeaten run in the Premier League when they come up against Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday. The Hammers are in an upturn of form that has helped lift them out of the relegation zone, with Moyes’ side currently 16th in the table.
