Jesse Lingard has previously spoken about the mental health issues that he and his family have faced and the challenges it has brought him in his football career.
Lingard was incredibly open and honest about the struggle his mother had faced throughout his childhood and how it had affected him in his adult life.
West Ham's England international has taken a proactive step to helping others who are struggling by sending care packages to friends including two self-help books, incense and a note.
One player who received a package from Lingard was Jordon Ibe. The Derby County winger posted a picture of the package and a response to Lingard via his Instagram account.
"I love the value that has been on view. All respect for the package my bro Jesse Lingard."
Earlier this year Ibe said that he had been in a 'dark place' and admitted to suffering from depression. Lingard reached out to the 25-year-old and included a note in the package which read:
"Hello! On behalf of Jesse Lingard – please read good vibes, good life first. Thank you and enjoy!"
Earlier this month Lingard had said he had even considered taking a break from football due to the mental issues affecting him and his family as he opened up on the stresses it had caused him.
Speaking to Presenting Lingard admitted how hard trying to concentrate on the game was when he had so much going on outside of football.
"I didn’t want to play because my mind wasn’t there, I wasn’t focused at all. I was thinking about other things and obviously bottling it all up; trying to play football, you can’t do it," he said.
Lingard said that by talking with the doctors at Manchester United he was able to finally able to understand the issues and 'get my head back together.'
The West Ham man added: "I want to change people’s lives and inspire others to start opening up, cause I've been through it and I know what it’s like to bottle things up, so if I can pass on the information to anyone who’s going through mental health issues, it’ll make me smile."
