West Ham's international stars set for shock Euro 2020 success according to latest prediction

A supercomputer has predicted that West Ham duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal will be holding aloft the Euro 2020 trophy on July 11.

Sports data providers Sportsradar have simulated every match in the competition "using artificial intelligence algorithms to create a huge number of different game situations, outcomes and game plays".

The algorithms have thrown up a number of surprise results with the final set to be a classic with Czech Republic running out 3-2 winners over Denmark at Wembley.

Soucek and Coufal head into the tournament with the hopes of their nation riding on their shoulders according to former Czech goalkeeper Tomas Cerny, but the supercomputer believes the Hammers can deal with the pressure.

There will be defeat along the way for the Czech's with Declan Rice predicted to be part of a triumphant England team against his West Ham teammates 2-1 in the final group D match.

The Three Lions will then knock-out tournament favourites France 3-1 in the last 16 before taking on Lukasz Fabianski's Poland and emerging 3-2 winners at the quarter-final stage.

However, as with the 2018 World Cup, Gareth Southgate's team will fall in the semi-finals where they are predicted to lose to Denmark.

If Soucek and Coufal are to fulfill the supercomputer's route to the trophy they will have to do it the hard way. Defeat to England in the group stages will leave them having to face Spain, Germany and Portugal before the final.

Werner Becher, Sportradar’s regional chief executive officer for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, said:

"We’ve tapped into the breadth of our technical capabilities to simulate the tournament, processing millions of data points from the last 20 years in order to identify the winning team.

"Football is unpredictable, it’s one of the things we love most about the game, but few fans would have put Czech Republic and Denmark in the final."

The Czech Republic would be surprise winners but the European Championships has thrown up a number of these in recent years.

Portugal triumphed in Euro 2016 despite finishing 3rd in their group behind Hungary and Iceland, Greece were shock 2004 winners and Denmark won the 1992 edition having originally not qualified for the tournament.
