West Ham reveal Sebastien Haller's new squad number after club-record move

Sebastien Haller, West Ham's club-record signing earlier this week, will wear the number 22 on his back for the foreseeable future.

West Ham announced that Haller had taken Sam Byram's old number after the defender left the club this week to join Premier League newboys Norwich City.

Haller wore the number nine at former club Eintracht Frankfurt but that was recently given to Javier Hernandez this summer after Andy Carroll left the club at the end of his contract.

The number 22 is also the number that the French striker wore during his time with Dutch side Utrecht.

Haller and fellow new recruit Pablo Fornals are expected to meet their new teammates next week at Rush Green and could play some part in the pre-season friendly against Fulham at Craven Cottage next Saturday.

Fornals arrived in England yesterday following the end of his summer holiday. The £25m signing from Villarreal was given three weeks off after helping his Spain U21 side to glory in the Euro U21 Championship last month in Italy.

West Ham play their second and final match of their pre-season tour in China on Saturday as they face Newcastle United in the Premier League Asia Trophy in Shanghai.
