West Ham 'reluctantly' sell Grady Diangana to West Brom for £18m

West Ham have sold Grady Diangana to West Brom in a deal worth at least £18million.

The Hammers academy graduate won promotion to the Premier League while on loan with the Baggies last season and has chosen to make the move permanent.

Fulham had registered late interest in Diangana but could not match the offer on the table from ex-West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.

West Ham have inserted a 20 per cent sell-on clause in the transfer.

A statement read: "The decision to sell Grady has been made reluctantly but – ultimately – in the best interests of the Club and with the aim to strengthen the squad in different areas at this time.

"The money received for Grady will be reinvested entirely in the team, in line with the manager’s targets.

"We believe that this will give us the best possible chance of ensuring we have a balanced squad to compete in the Premier League and capable of reaching our objectives and ambitions this season."

West Ham, having seen target Eberechi Eze join Crystal Palace, are weighing up a bid for Brentford striker Said Benrahma, who is valued at £25m.

The Hammers are keen to sign a new full-back and are interested in Bolonga's Japanese international Takehiro Tomiyasu - who can also play in central defence or holding midfield if needed.
