West Ham proved we can rival 'big six' in win at Tottenham, says Manuel Pellegrini

Manuel Pellegrini says his West Ham side can beat anyone in the Premier League when they offer up the ‘big-team performance' on display to beat Tottenham on Saturday.

Michail Antonio’s goal ensured the Hammers became the first side to win at Spurs’ new £1billion home as they picked up a first win away from home since December 27 at Southampton.

Pellegrini has been calling on West Ham to develop a big-club mentality since his arrival last summer, and his side have picked up points of every member of the ‘big six’ bar Manchester City.

"I said last week that the team was doing well, we deserved against Man United and Leicester better results. I am absolutely sure that if my team plays in that way, with the personality of a big team then we can beat anyone," Pellegrini said.

"This was our major rival so our fans are very happy also, in a stadium where nobody had scored against them before and nobody had won before so I am very happy with the performance and with the way we played.

"If you review our games against the big six, Arsenal we played well in both, Manchester United also. Against Chelsea most part of the second half of the second game, at home we played well.

"Against Tottenham we lost 1-0 at home but also a very tight game, today we won. We demonstrate that we are able to play as a big team and they must demonstrate that they are better."

Marko Arnautovic, who has not scored for the Hammers since January 5, laid on the assist for Antonio's winner, but limped off at the end.

Pellegrini, though, is confident there is no big problem.

"I think he just felt a little problem in his muscle, nothing serious," he said. "I think Marko improved a lot in the second half, he has a great assist for the goal of Antonio, not an easy goal to score. Happy for a player like Marko who needs to recover his trust."
