West Ham 'prepared to sell Issa Diop' amid Man Utd transfer speculation

West Ham are ready to cash in on Manchester United's interest in central defender Issa Diop this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seeking reinforcements at the back as he eyes a partner for the world's most expensive defender, Harry Maguire.

Diop has previously been linked with a switch to Old Trafford and it seems as if the Frenchman is still on their wishlist.

The Hammers are prepared to sell Diop should an offer of £45m be tabled, according to Sky Sports.

That is considerably less than the £75m they were reportedly demanding last year when United first expressed their interest.

David Moyes steered the east London side clear of relegation last term and is now looking to raise funds in an effort to rebuild his squad.

Diop played 36 times in all competitions last season - more than any other West Ham defender.

Despite that his weekly earnings are considerably less than many of his Hammers team-mates and he is looking to quit the London Stadium.

United may not get a clear run at the defender though with two other Premier League clubs also interested.

Former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho previously heaped praise on Diop when he played a starring role in a win over United in 2018.

He said: "Congratulations to the scout who found the 21-year-old kid, Diop. He was a monster and dominated every single duel."

Solskjaer is keen to add in several areas this summer with their Europa League defeat to Sevilla underlining the improvements that still need to be made.

Discussions continue over a move for Jadon Sancho but Borussia Dortmund maintain that the Englishman will now remain in Germany.

The Bundesliga outfit gave United a deadline to complete a deal but that has now passed and Sancho is preparing for the upcoming season.
