West Ham are ready to make an improved offer for Burnley defender James Tarkowski this week as they look to ease the unrest at the club.
Owners David Sullivan and David Gold are under fire after captain Mark Noble criticised the decision to sell Grady Diangana to West Brom.
The sale of the academy graduate sparked outrage among fans, some of whom are planning a protest outside the stadium when West Ham host Newcastle on Saturday.
West Ham have had two bids rejected for Tarkowski, the latest being £27million, but an offer of around £30m plus add-ons could be enough for Burnley.
Tarkowski, who has two years left on his contract, is keen to leave Burnley as he bids to force his way back into the England squad.
Tarkowski has long been a target for West Ham boss David Moyes, who is keen to add experience at the heart of his back four but needs to sell again before he can buy.
Noble hit out at Diangana’s £18m exit, tweeting: “As captain I’m gutted, angry and sad that Grady has left, great kid with a great future.”
Noble’s tweet was liked by Declan Rice, while other West Ham players are thought to be disappointed by the departure of Diangana.
