West Ham predicted to take a 'beating' from Man City despite knocking Manchester United out

Harry Redknapp says he can’t wait for Manchester City to play his former team West Ham, after he helped draw the two sides together in the Carabao Cup.

The retired manager, who took charge of the Hammers from 1994 to 2001, was responsible for drawing the fixtures for the fourth round of the Cup on Wednesday night, alongside former City defender Micah Richards.

It was almost pre-destined then, that the two men should draw their former teams against one another, with the game currently scheduled to take place on October 26 at the London Stadium.

Carabao Cup holders City advanced to the fourth round after dispatching League One side Wycombe 6-1 on Tuesday before, on Wednesday, West Ham beat Manchester United 1-0 to stun Old Trafford.

And Redknapp believes that lightning could strike twice, and that the Hammers can bring the fight to Pep Guardiola 's team: “I think West Ham’s result against Man United, what a result that is. To go there and get a win there, it’s never easy to get a result at Old Trafford.

“I like the West Ham-Man City game, I think it has the making of a great game. West Ham are in great form and they will give Man City a great game, that’s for sure.”

Still, Redknapp would still have City favourites to win, adding: “Don’t worry, the Hammers are at home. They’ll take the beating.”
