West Ham player ratings vs Watford: Bowen superb, Rice shines, Ogbonna immense

Lukasz Fabianski

Barely had much to do in the first half but did make one decent stop from Sarr with his legs. Couldn't do much with Deeney's goal. Kicking was crisp and towards the end, his claiming from crosses was excellent. 7

Aaron Cresswell

Caused problems by Ismaila Sarr as Watford targeted his flank but stood up well. Took a whack to the face in the first half. Made two crucial interceptions after the break but struggled up against Sarr in the second period. 6

Issa Diop

Better than he has been in recent weeks, far more vocal alongside Ogbonna too. One mistake when he made a hash of a header clear but Sarr didn’t take advantage. Nervy after the break but held up strong. 7

Angelo Ogbonna

Outstanding tackle on Ismaila Sarr midway through the first half underlined his player of the year credentials. Made another superb challenge on Troy Deeney as well before the break to snuff out an attack. Dived in badly on Doucoure in the lead up to Deeney’s goal which was a blot but other than that, excellent again. A absolute mountain in the second half. 9

Sluggish start as he misjudged a header and then gave the ball away cheaply in the opening moments of the match. Got better as the game went on, his passing was a bit loose at times. Good second half, not as much attacking purpose as he would have liked but defensively, he was sound. 7

Declan Rice

Was putting a standard Declan Rice performance until he decided to let fly from 30 yards and smack it into the corner giving Ben Foster no chance with an outrageous hit. Put his body on the line and looked absolutely battered at full time. 8

Mark Noble

Played the most advanced of the midfielders once again as he marked his 500th appearance in claret and blue. Not as impactufl as he was against Norwich and looked off the pace in the second half as the midfielder was overrun. 7

Tomas Soucek

Powered a header past Foster on ten minutes to double West Ham’s lead early on, his third since the restart. His box to box energy has been crucial to the Hammers since he joined and he was superb again. That £16million permanent option is an absolute steal. 9

Jarrod Bowen

Put in the perfect, most sublime cross for Soucek to head home West Ham’s second goal of the game inside ten minutes, his fourth assist since joining the club. A constant thorn down the right and gave Adam Masina a torrid evening. Helped alleviate pressure in the second half with some excellent dribbles down the pitch which was crucial. 9

Pablo Fornals

Spritely and lively but once again, his final ball let him down too often. Did help Cresswell at left back out a lot as he got through plenty of defensive work. Subbed for Haller midway through the second half after an industrious outing. 6

Michal Antonio

Superbly finished his seventh goal since the restart with a fine finish past Ben Foster on six minutes. Ran himself into the ground once again. His hold up play was exceptional at times. 8

Substitutes

Sebastien Haller (for Fornals, 72’)

Almost scored with his first touch but was denied by a superb save from Ben Foster. Won his headers well. 6

Andriy Yarmolenko (for Bowen, 80')

Won a clever free kick to releive some pressure as Watford threw the kitchen sink at the Hammers. 6

Fabian Balbuena (for Antonio, 90) N/A
