West Ham player ratings vs Sheffield United: Rice and Ogbonna immense, Haller good

Lukasz Fabianski

Good early save to deny Baldock at his near post and another decent save from McBurnie. Another clean sheet and one of his better shot stopping performances this season. 8

Vladimir Coufal

Had plenty of space out on the right flank when attacking but his teammates didn’t use him enough. Plenty of crunching tackles and wasn’t caught out too often. 8

Fabian Balbuena

Showed no sign of tiredness after his gruelling international break trips. Was given a thorough test by McBurnie. 8

Angelo Ogbonna

Didn’t miss a beat at the back. Very good. Won everything in the air. 9

Aaron Cresswell

Continuing his excellent season with another solid display. Defensively he was very sound, not much of an attacking threat this time. Set piece delivery was very good. 8

Arthur Masuaku

Shaky start and was caught out three times by passes over his head. Got a bit of joy attacking wise and that gave him more confidence. Much better in the second half than the first. 7

Declan Rice

Got his teammates going after a poor opening 15 minutes as he led by example. Kept the midfield ticking over really nicely. Had a header hit the crossbar. Excellent throughout and showed is class time and time again. 9

Tomas Soucek

Should have put the visitors ahead in the first half but fluffed his lines. Typically energetic display, getting up and down the pitch. 7

Jarrod Bowen

Plenty of running and was a threat without actually being threatening. Should have squared for Haller late in the first half. A bit greedy. 6

Pablo Fornals

Quiet in the opening quarter but gradually grew into the game and had a big influence towards the end of the first half. He was too wasteful in possession however, should have got his head up on plenty of occasions. 6

Sebastien Haller

Struggled to hold the ball up at all in the early going but got better and better. West Ham played to his strengths and created a good chance, spurned by Soucek. Fantastic finish opened the scoring and had a very good afternoon. 8

Substitutes

Manuel Lanzini (for Fornals, 75’)

Provided some fresh legs and always offered an outlet. 6

Mark Noble (for Bowen, 90') N/A
