West Ham player ratings vs Sheffield United as Rice and Diop star in Hammers win

Lukasz Fabianski - A brilliant save from McGoldrick after the striker's header hit Johnson on the way towards the back of the net. Another superb performance from the Pole. 8

Vladimir Coufal - Mr. Dependable at the back as always. Almost got himself a goal, he was looking for the pass but when there wasn't one had a dig but hit it too close to the keeper. 7

Craig Dawson - A very vocal presence at the back, Dawson talked Diop through the whole game, a natural leader. A threat going forward and a rock at the back. 7

Issa Diop - Excellent header to double The Hammers lead and played well throughout. Listen to 90 minutes of instructions from Dawson and the bench, done enough to keep Balbuena on the bench for now. 8

Aaron Cresswell - Looks a natural at left centre-back as well as full-back, a constant voice throughout the game always providing Johnson with instructions of where to be. Excellent delivery including the assist for Diop's goal. 7

Ben Johnson off 90 - An energetic performance helping Cresswell out at the back and getting forward well in attack. Nothing spectacular but hardly put a foot wrong. 7

Declan Rice - Showed great leadership when taking control of the penalty situation with Lingard and drove his team on the entire game. Carried the ball well, excellent passing and broke up Sheffield United attacks well. 9

Tomas Soucek - Covers every blade of grass and as important defending set-pieces as he is when attacking them. Played second fiddle to Rice today but a solid performance in his own right. 7

Manuel Lanzini off 63 - Involved in the attack for the first goal, made the right pass at the right time something that was missing last week from The Hammers performance. Disappointed to be subbed off just after the hour mark. 6

Jarrod Bowen - Played as the central striker and did well in an unfamiliar role. Was never going to be a holdup player but had the pace to offer an outlet and did well on the counter-attack. 7

Jesse Lingard - West Ham's brightest player going forward, won the penalty but blotted his copybook by trying to keep the ball from his captain and the clear penalty taker Declan Rice. Very good at receiving the ball and driving the team up the pitch. 8

Substitutes:

Mark Noble on 63 - A clear sign David Moyes was happy with what he had replacing the more attacking Lanzini with captain Noble. Was a calm presence in front of the back four. 6

Said Benrahma on 83 - Not enough time to greatly affect the game n/a

Ryan Fredericks on 90 - Excellently taken late goal from the substitute
