West Ham player ratings vs Reading FC as Ben Johnson and Conor Coventry steal the show

Darren Randolph (off 61) - Had practically nothing to do in the second half. 6

Ben Johnson - Excellent assist for Coventry's goal. The versatile defender had moved to right-back at the break and got forward well. Johnson capped off a fine evening with a brilliant solo goal after taking on half the Reading team, superb finish from the 21-year-old. 8

Issa Diop (off 61) - Picked up where he left off, calm on the ball and more vocal than usual. 7

Angelo Ogbonna - The instant he came on his was the loudest voice on the pitch. A clear leader in the West Ham team and the defensive lynchpin. 7

Aaron Cresswell - Got forward well and provided quality from dead-ball situations. Nothing to do in defence. 6

Conor Coventry - Capped off a superb performance with a second-half goal. Excellent in possession and timed his run into the box perfectly for a simple finish at the far post. 8

Mark Noble (off 61) - Had little to do defensively but kept the ball well and recycled possession quickly. 7

Nathan Holland - Involved in Coventry's goal by keeping the ball moving at exactly the right time, otherwise reasonably quiet. 6

Manuel Lanzini - Moved the ball quickly and, as with Pablo Fornals in the first half, always free to receive a pass. Showed his versatility by moving into a deeper role after Noble's substitution, which could be key to his game time this season. 7

Said Benrahma - Benrahma was a far greater threat than Oko-Flex had been off the left-wing. The Algerian looked to run at his marker every time he received the ball before cutting inside and firing in a shot. Moved into a number ten role later in the game and was less effective. 7

Jarrod Bowen (off 74) - Began the half as the central striker before moving to the right-wing. Should have scored but clipped the ball over the bar. 7

Substitutes:

Dave Martin - Barely touched the ball such was West Ham's dominance. 6

Frederick Alves - Should have scored from a free header after a perfect Cresswell delivery but headed well wide. Little to do in defence. 6

Mipo Odubeko - Came on as the game was petering out and saw very little of the ball. 6

Jamal Baptiste - Played high up the pitch but, as with Odubeko, was not hugely involved in the game. 6

Keenan Forson - n/a

Pierre Ekwah - n/a
