West Ham player ratings vs Rapid Vienna as Mark Noble and Andriy Yarmolenko seal top spot

Alphonse Areola - Had little to do but did what was asked of him well. 6

Vladimir Coufal - Had the work of two men to do with so little support from Yarmolenko. Got forward well throughout. 7

Craig Dawson - Poor in possession with a number of wild passes, defensively solid and strong in the air. 6

Issa Diop - Did everything asked of him, Strong in the air, read the game well and did his chances of a start in the Premier League no harm at all. 7

Arthur Masuaku - Picked as a left-back but played very high up the pitch and impressed with his delivery. 6

Mark Noble - Got his first-ever goal in European football proper with a nerveless penalty. Had been poor in possession and drawn the ire of his manager until that point. Improved in the second half and drove his team up the pitch. 7

Tomas Soucek - Urged to play higher up the pitch by Moyes throughout but often dropping deep to help Noble out. Nothing spectacular from the Czech who saw little of the ball. 6

Nikola Vlasic - Tidy in possession and had Benrahma looked up would have had his first West Ham goal. 6

Manuel Lanzini off 65 - Looked to create with the ball at his feet and one of the few comfortable in possession. 6

Andriy Yarmolenko - Got the all important first goal but the Ukrainian was desperately poor in Vienna. Too often giving the ball away and far too lazy when it came to tracking back, a much better second half from the wide man. 5

Jarrod Bowen off 65- Missed a glorious opportunity early in the first half, harried the defence well but lacking the killer instinct as an out and out striker. 6

Substitutes -

Alex Kral on 65 - Energetic and strong in the centre of the park, made a case for more game time. 6

Pablo Fornals on 65 - Made a difference on the ball looking to keep the tempo high. 6

Said Benrahma on 65 - Greedily shot when Vlasic was free in the middle and got a rollocking from the boss as a result. 6

Ryan Fredericks on 78 - Had little to do after replacing Masuaku 6

Sonny Perkins on 78 - Almost a dream start to professional football for the 17-year-old but his header was too close to the keeper who saves well.
