Lukasz Fabianski
Very hesitant when crosses came into the box and looked a bit flappy early on but got his act together as the match progressed. 6
Ryan Fredericks
Lethargic with the ball at his feet in the early going and didn’t offer much in an attacking sense. Very good piece of defending late in the first half snuffed out a good chance for the hosts. Good second half, got forward well and defended stoutly. 7
Issa Diop
Won some dominant headers up against Joelinton in particular as the Frenchman dominated the Hammers striker but struggled with the more pacy Dwight Gayle. Still not playing at the levels of last year and once again conceded two goals. 6
Angelo Ogbonna
Caught on his heels by Almiron and didn’t track his run for Newcastle’s equaliser. Didn’t cover himself in glory for Shelvey’s goal, either. Not his best day. 6
Aaron Cresswell
Caught 2v1 for Newcastle’s equaliser and had no chance of dealing with the cross in. Left exposed by Manuel Lanzini’s lack of defending throughout. Put a few decent crosses into the box. Not bad, not brilliant. 6
Declan Rice

Sprayed some lively passes around as he thumped the ball towards his teammates when he was given the opportunity. Made plenty of interceptions and blocks as he always does but is starting to look a bit tired. 7
Tomas Soucek
Struggled to pick up Allan Saint-Maximin who was allowed to play wherever he wanted by Steve Bruce. Going forward he was a real threat however. Almiron switched onto the Czech in the second half. Scored a fine goal to make it 2-1, his second in two games. Good again. 8
Manuel Lanzini
A little bit off the pace in the first half as the game seemed to pass him by, he found no space in which to work in. Subbed just ten minutes in after an ineffective game. 5
Pablo Fornals
Nice pass in the build up to Bowen to set the Hammers on their way to the opener. Got more involved as the first half went on and had more influence on the game. Undid any good work by playing everyone onside for Newcastl’s second equaliser. 6
Jarrod Bowen
Bagged his third assist in two games as he supplied the cross for Antonio to score the opener (with some help from Lascelles). Almost scored himself but a fine save by Dubravka denied him. Plenty of energy throughout. 7
Michail Antonio

Lashed home the opener on four minutes by whacking Bowen’s cross into the roof of the net. Much like midweek, he was full of running and absolutely everywhere. Quieter in the second half than he was in the first. 7
Substitutes
Mark Noble (for Lanzini, 56’)
His introduction seemed to slow the Hammers down and he didn’t really have a defined position. 5
Andriy Yarmolenko (for Fornals, 75’)
Forced a superb save from Dubravka. 6
