West Ham player ratings vs Leeds: Coufal, Rice and Soucek excellent but Haller struggles

Lukasz Fabianski

Saved the penalty he conceded before the retake which he couldn’t repeat. Good save from Klich in the second half. 6

Vladimir Coufal

Marauded forward and forced the corner that West Ham equalised from. Dominated Jack Harrison who was hauled off at half time. Never shy of getting forward and defended excellently throughout. 9

Fabian Balbuena

Ropey passing in the opening 20 minutes but made some important interceptions with his head. Saw a bulelt header suerbly stopped by Meslier. Got better and better as the game went on. 7

Angelo Ogbonna

Caught on his heels a couple of times by Rodrigo bursting forward from midfield. Defended well with his back to goal but struggled with runners. Good second half, capped off by the emphatic header to put the Hammers 2-1 up. 8

West Ham FFOTY 2020

Aaron Cresswell

Making his 200th Premier League appearance for the Hammers. Took a couple of whacks in the first half that saw him retreat into his shell a bit. Pinpoint deliver for Ogbonna's goal, an area he has drastically improved on this season. 7

Declan Rice

Seemed to have plenty of freedom in the middle of the park and picked a few nice passes early doors. Outsanding throughout, especially defensively, as Leeds got nothing out of him at all. 9

Tomas Soucek

Powerful header on 25 minutes to score his second goal in two games and was everywhere as he usually is. Battled superbly in midfield and was everywhere again. What a signing. 9

Pablo Fornals

Quiet in the opening 45 playing in his preferred number ten role. Too much ball-watching, not alert enough defensively. Missed a golden chance in the second half. 5

Said Benrahma

Saw plenty of the ball in the early running, almost exclusively down the left channel before he started to drift inside and make a real difference. A tad wasteful on occasion but a decent full debut. 7

Jarrod Bowen

West Ham's Jarrod Bowen vies with Leeds United's Ezgjan Alioski (JASON CAIRNDUFF/POOL/AFP via Getty Images)

Lively as ever, his decision making was a bit sloppy in the opening exchanges. Grew into the game and caused problems, firing one decent effort narrowly wide. Passing was hit and miss. Replaced late on. 7

Sebastien Haller

Far too weak and gave the ball away in the build-up to Leeds’ penalty. Poor in the first half as the ball just bounced off him. Spurned chances and was a frustrating night. Never looked like scoring. 5

Substitutes

Mark Noble (for Benrahma, 82')

Took the armband and added some legs in midfield. Booked when taking a tackle for the team as Leeds pushed for an equaliser. 5

Ben Johnson (for Bowen, 85')

Brought on to shore up the defence. 5

Robert Snodgrass (for Fornals, 90 + 4) N/A
