West Ham player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Coufal superb as Haller scores wondergoal

Lukasz Fabianski

Not much he could have done with Benteke’s header. Not much else to do apart from that. 6

Vladimir Coufal

Set his stall out early on Wilf Zaha with two crunching - and fair - tackles. Shackled the Palace winger superbly, grabbed an assist for Haller’s overhead kick and another stellar game for the right back. £5million was a stupidly good bargain. 8

Issa Diop

Making his first start since September 19 and wasn’t alert enough to Benteke’s run to score Palace’s opener. Better after the break than he was in the first but a very rusty return for the Frenchman, who will have to improve. 6

Angelo Ogbonna

Had a difficult spell up against Benteke in the first half with the Palace striker getting the better of things. Good after the break, dealt with Benteke much better before the frontman was sent off. 7

Aaron Cresswell

Appeared to roll his ankle midway through the first half and really struggled with Townsend, though he wasn’t helped by Fornals often going AWOL. Good in the second half after shrugging off the injury, attacked Joel Ward with purpose and dovetailed nicely with Benrahma. 7

Declan Rice

Had to get his teammates going after a sluggish start and he led by example throughout. Did the same afetr the break too as his teammates looked to him - he stepped up. Maybe not his best game all told but he wasn't bad, either. 7

Tomas Soucek

Couldn’t get to grips with the elegant Eberechi Eze. Not his most effective game but his presence was greater and greater as the game wore on. 7

Pablo Fornals

Headed wide a decent chance on the quarter hour mark. Went walkabout for the Palace opener and left Cresswell horribly exposed 2v1. Poor and hauled off at the break. 5

West Ham FFOTY 2020

Jarrod Bowen

Heavily involved early on, a better touch might have set him free but Kouyate recovered to clear. Forced a good save from Guaita. Set piece delivery was off. Substituted with ten minutes to go, he has yet to complete 90 minutes this season. OK but nothing outstanding. 6

Said Benrahma

Very lively opening five minutes but then struggled to get much of the ball in the opening period and was drifting all over the place to find it. Played wide left in the second half but Palace constantly doubled up on the Algerian. A frutstrating night. 6

Sebastien Haller

Barely figured in the first half as he saw next to nothing of the ball. Can't say the same in the second half, stunning overhead kick made it 1-1 and he played like a man possessed after the break.. Kouyate struggled badly as Haller showed real persistence. Gets an extra point for his sensational goal. 8

Substitutes

Manuel Lanzini (for Fornals, 46’)

Provided an instant upgrade on the man he replaced. He was incisive and probing with his passing, showed good poise to feed Coufal in the build up to Haller’s goal. 7

Andriy Yarmolenko (for Bowen, 80’)

Looked lively but no real time to make an impact. No rating

Robert Snodgrass (for Benrahma, 87') No rating
