West Ham player ratings vs Chelsea: Rice and Soucek good, Haller and Fornals quiet

Lukasz Fabianski

Nothing he could do with Thiago Silva’s thumping header. Can have strong claims to being fouled in the lead up to Abraham’s second. 6

Vladimir Coufal

Wasteful in crossing positions, which is unlike him but apart from that he was excellent again. Did most other things well but some missed opportunities. 6

Fabian Balbuena

Slotted back in well, wasn’t too tested by Tammy Abraham or Timo Werner until the final ten minutes. Big boost having him back fit. 6

Angelo Ogbonna

Dealt well with Abraham and Werner but struggled a bit with Pulisic. Good second half but will not be thrilled with the final ten minutes. 6

Aaron Cresswell

Chelsea and Mason Mount battered him in the early going but he was key to the Hammers starting to impose themselves in the first period. Superb delivery throughout from wide areas but he was caught napping for two of the Chelsea goals. 6

Declan Rice

Had a fabulous goal ruled out for offside in the opening moments. Proved a real driving force for the visitors throughout. 7

Tomas Soucek

Caused Chelsea massive problems from set pieces and once he got over a slow start, imposed himself on proceedings. Didn’t lose many aerial duels and was particularly good second half. 7

Mark Noble

Chased shadows in the first half, couldn’t get near Jorginho. Improved as the first half went on and saw more of the ball. Not much at all after the break and looked knackered after the hour mark. 6

Pablo Fornals

As usual, he showed plenty of endeavour and was industrious but his attacking play just wasn’t quite where it needed to be. He wasn’t bad but had little impact. 6

Jarrod Bowen

Question mark as to why it was him marking Thiago Silva for the opening goal and the bad job he did with it as well. Emerson had the better of him after the break. 6

Sebastien Haller

Dreadfully isolated in the first half and when he did have the ball he was too far away from goal to do any damage. Headed a presentable chance wide early in the second half but apart from that, very little. 5

Substitutes

Said Benrahma (for Fornals, 66’)

Brought on to make an impact but didn’t get much of a chance to make one. Chelsea netting their second effectively ended his cameo. 5

Ryan Fredericks (for Bowen, 90') No rating
