West Ham player ratings vs Chelsea: Bowen and Soucek outstanding, Yarmolenko's impact huge

Lukasz Fabianski

Could he have done better with Willian’s free kick? Some might say he should, others say no. Quiet night otherwise, sent the wrong way from the spot by Willian in the first half. 6

Aaron Cresswell

Coped well up against Willian though anyone pacier would have caused him more trouble. Solid enough without needing to be spectacular. 6

Issa Diop

Completely done by Pulisic and the defender brought the American down for a penalty, converted by Willian to give the visitors the lead. Still looks a bit nervous and jumpy whenever the ball is near him. 6

Angelo Ogbonna

Extremely vocal at the back and the Hammers defence looks much more organised with the Italian back in the lineup. A solid return to action and looked like he had never been away. 8

Ryan Fredericks

Not much to talk about defensively prior to Mason Mount’s introduction but that changed Fredericks’ game but the right back coped well. His best performance since the restart. 7

Declan Rice

Held the fort well in midfield and Ross Barkley got very little change out of his England teammate in the opening 45 minutes. Just a typical Rice performance really, a class act throughout though his one mistake, hacking down Pulisic, led to Willian's equaliser. 8

Tomas Soucek

LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 01: Tomas Soucek of West Ham United celebrates after scoring his team's first goal during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Chelsea FC at London Stadium on July 01, 2020 in London, England. Had a goal dubiously disallowed by VAR after a four-minute check at Stockley Park. Scored with a towering header on the stroke of half time which was richly deserved after an excellent first 45 minutes. Much the same after the break as he out in an unbelievable shift, won plenty of second balls and was generally superb. 9

Pablo Fornals

Very laissez faire in the first half as he was far too relaxed in possession and gave the ball away cheaply. Clever pass released Bowen to supply Antonio for West Ham’s second as he improved after the break. 6

Manuel Lanzini

Making his first start since January and was quiet to begin with stationed out on the left hand side. Didn’t help out his left back very much defensively. Better after half time but spurned a very good chance to make it 3-1. Booked for a hack on Azplilicueta. Started slowly and improved as the game went on before being replaced by Wilshere at the drinks break. 7

Jarrod Bowen

Assisted Soucek’s equaliser with an excellent corner, headed home by the Czech midfielder. Bagged a second assist six minutes after the break laying the ball on a plate for Antonio to tap home. Had Marcos Alonso on toast throughout and the Blues defence couldn’t deal with him all game. 9

Michail Antonio

Should have scored on 12 minutes but scuffed wide after shrugging off Antonio Rudiger. Made up for that miss by tapping home into an empty net on 53 minutes to give the Hammers a 2-1 lead. Won far more headers and held up the ball so much better than in the previous two games. Ran himself into the ground. Excellent throughout and bullied Christensen. 9

Substitutes

Jack Wilshere (for Lanzini, 67’)

Made his first Premier League appearance since October 19 last year. Sprayed around some nice passes. 6

Andriy Yarmolenko (for Bowen, 77’)

Mis-placed two passes when morw quality was needed with the game on the line. Didn't matter a jot as he showed superb composure to steer home a 90th minute winner that could be worth it's weight in goal. 8

Fabian Balbuena (for Fornals, 90')

Brought on to shore up the defence in injury time. No rating
