Lukasz Fabianski
Made a superb stop in the second half to deny Trezeguet that kept West Ham in front. Crucial. 7
Vladimir Coufal
Did an excellent job on Grealish in the opening 15 minutes and that forced Villa’s talisman to go inside to get the ball. Not much chance to get forward but defended stoutly once again. 8
Fabian Balbuena
Did very well up against Ollie Watkins throughout and made a number of timely clearances and interceptions. Didn’t miss much all game. 8
Angelo Ogbonna
Too big and too strong for Matt Targett to score after one minute and 50 seconds of the game. Solid. 7
Aaron Cresswell
Cut a frustrated figure, especially with the referee, in the first half. Defended well throughout to continue his good form. 7
Arthur Masuaku
Always offered himself as an outlet for attacks but had very little options in front of him, often forced to go backwards. Taken off at the break as Moyes switched things up. 6
Declan Rice
Was given the run around a bit in the first half by the lively McGinn and Hourihane as he and Soucek were outplayed. Silly penalty to give away in the second half, no matter how small the contact was. 6
Tomas Soucek
Struggled to get a grip on the game in the early going despite the Hammers going ahead. Impressive after the break defensively and got through a tonne of work but his passing was well below his usual standards. 6
Pablo Fornals
Ran around a lot in the opening 45 minutes but barely touched the ball as he failed to get into the game. Booked in the second half. Not much of an impact. 5
Jarrod Bowen

Excellent delivery from the corner for Ogbonna’s opener. Glanced the Hammers ahead 29 seconds after the break. Full of energy and a decent performance, one of his best for a few weeks. 8
Michail Antonio
Back in the starting lineup after missing more than a month with a hamstring injury but the decision to start him didn’t look a wise one in the first half as Antonio laboured. Subbed at the break. 5
Substitutes
Said Benrahma (for Masuaku, 45’)
Had an immediate impact as his cross was glanced home by Bowen. Not really much else to report but he did exactly what he needed to do, create chances. 7
Sebastien Haller (for Antonio, 45’)
Provided more of a threat than Antonio, occupied the Villa centre backs and his hold up play was decent. 7
Mark Noble (for Bowen, 78’)
Brought on to shore up the midfield. 5
