West Ham player ratings vs Arsenal: Arthur Masuaku excellent in gutting defeat

Lukasz Fabianski

Had to pick the ball out of his net twice but other than that he had barely anything to do. 6

Ryan Fredericks

Booked in the first half for a high and untidy challenge on Bukayo Saka. Great cross for Antonio’s equaliser after a lung-busting overlap on Bowen. Good for a second game in a row. 7

Issa Diop

His trailing leg played Aubameyang onside for the opener. Vast improvement from last week looked more comfortable in a back three. 6

Angelo Ogbonna

Solid as a rock up against Lacazette. Didn't put a foot wrong and didn't deserve to be on the losing side. 7

Aaron Cresswell

Caught out by Lacazette’s run for the opening goal. Some of his passing was iffy. Not bad after the break, did what he needed to do. 6

Arthur Masuaku

Beat Gabriel for pace early on in promising signs from left wing-back. Constantly made good in-roads going forward. Bright throughout, constantly threatened going forward and some good crossing too. Keeps his place for the next game easily. 8

Declan Rice

Didn’t track Lacazette for Arsenal’s opening goal. Made a number of key tackles in the first half though to atone. Solid after the break, Ceballos and Xhaka got no change out of the England international. 7

Tomas Soucek

Didn’t seem to be able to make his forward runs as much in the new formation and was largely pedestrian in the first half. Battled hard after the break and put in a shift. Much more effective after half time than before it. 7

Pablo Fornals

Struggled to get into the game from a wide position once again. Drifted in field when he had the ball and more often than not into heavy traffic. Again, excellent work rate but he’s wasted out wide. 6

Jarrod Bowen

Frustrating. Caused Sead Kolasinac plenty of problems in the early going but didn’t really threaten on goal too often. Bright in the second half as well but needs to get his head up more. Replaced by Yarmolenko with seven minutes to go. 6

Michail Antonio

Worked hard in the opening 45 minutes despite dragging himself wide a bit too often. Right place, right time to tap home Fredericks’ centre to make it 1-1. Rattled the crossbar in the second half with a thumping header. 8

Substitutes

Andriy Yarmolenko (for Bowen, 83')

Dreadful for Nketiah's winner as he failed to track Ceballos who had all day to pick out Nketiah. 4

Sebastien Haller ( for Fornals, 87')

Gave a foul away. N/A

Felipe Anderson (for Masuaku, 89')

Tried a backheel that didn't come off. N/A
