West Ham player ratings as Brynjarsdóttir and Cissoko claim London derby win

Second-half goals from Dagny Brynjarsdóttir and Hawa Cissoko clinched a fifth league win of the season for West Ham over Spurs at Brisbane Road on Sunday afternoon.

It was an underwhelming start to the match in which Spurs dominated proceedings and the Irons blew a penalty opportunity as Brynjarsdóttir failed to convert.

Things started to go in the way of the Irons as Brynjarsdóttir made up for her missed penalty with a cool finish three minutes after the start before Cissoko scored an unlikely chip over Spurs keeper Rebecca Spencer five minutes from time.

While not the comprehensive performance Konchesky had implored from his side after their loss to Liverpool, the second-half put to bed some of the worry following last week's performance that the Irons were slipping dangerously to the wrong end of the table.

Players ratings

MACKENZIE ARNOLD

Did well to command her box and fend off Spurs’ early salvos, and a cat-like save off the line before the half-hour mark kept Spurs’ frustratingly hunting for their opener. 7

RISA SHIMIZU

Made some critical clearances as Spurs looked to capitalise on a promising first-half display. Grew into the defensive performance as the game wore on. 6

GRACE FISK

Struggled to handle Spurs on the right with Celin Bizet in the first half and gave the ball away cheaply at times but defended well as time wore on, especially with the change of shape to a back four alongside Cissoko. 6

HAWA CISSOKO

Player of the match. Making her first start since her ban, put in a strong shift in the backline for West Ham and provided a balance and fortitude that had been missing for some time in her absence and deeply rankled Spurs' attack. Culminated the display with a gorgeous dink over keeper Rebecca Spencer on the break in the second-half to put the game to bed. 9

KIRSTY SMITH

Ran the wings well. Booked in first-half after a rough challenge on Eveliina Summanen who looked to release Spurs on the counter but as the second-half wore on, showed more composure on the ball and helped charge her side forward. Had some trouble when Jessica Naz was introduced. 6

KATE LONGHURST

Returned to midfield after her brief cameo in the backline and with good success. Instrumental in the Irons’ attack and slipped through balls between Spurs backline. Won the penalty in the first-half after pressuring Spurs' Kerys Harrop. 8

DAGNY BRYNJARSDOTTIR

Atoned for her wretched first-half penalty attempt with a cool opening goal in typical skipper style. Not a vintage first-half display but more improved second-half. 7

ABBEY-LEIGH STRINGER

Put in a strong shift in midfield and was often instrumental in driving West Ham's attack forward. In the second-half, calmly dictated proceedings from the centre. 6

HONOKA HAYASHI

Struggled to impart any impact on the opening proceedings and was substituted unceremoniously at half-time for it. 4

CLAUDIA WALKER

Offered little in the way of attack in the first-half and was missing that slight dimension of composure. Never stopped running. 6

VIVIANE ASSEYI

Struggled to impact the first half but poor service didn’t help her. Second-half offered far more threat and beautifully set up Cissoko for West Ham's second. 8

SUBSTITUTIONS:

LISA EVANS

Dropped to the bench but brought in at the start of the second-half after an underwhelming midfield performance from the Irons. Was critical in the completely altered second-half performance from her side. 7
