West Ham plan scuppers Arsenal fan hopes over potential title party

Arsenal supporters attempting to buy tickets in the home end for their trip to West Ham later this season have been told to provide evidence that they are actually fans of the east London club.

The Gunners travel to the London Stadium for their third-to-last game of the Premier League season in early May.

With Mikel Arteta's side currently holding a nine-point advantage at the summit over Manchester City, who have a game in hand, it is possible that the match against West Ham could be the day that Arsenal seal their first league title in 22 years.

As a result, Arsenal fans have been doing everything they can to try and grab a ticket for the game, including purchasing seats in the West Ham sections of the ground.

However, in response to that, West Ham have contacted first-time buyers ahead of the game and demanded that they send pictures to prove that they are genuine Hammers fans.

An email read: “We are currently conducting ticket checks for this fixture to ensure that away supporters do not purchase tickets in the home end and, accordingly, advise that your ticket is currently on hold and will not permit you entry into the stadium on match day in line with our terms and conditions.

“These conditions have been accepted by you during the purchasing process and state ‘home match tickets are for the use of supporters of the club only’.

“As you have no previous booking history with us or have only/mainly booked this particular fixture, we require evidence of you and your guest(s) being a West Ham United supporter.

“Therefore, could you please provide photographic evidence that you are a West Ham United supporter which can be from a party, event or fixture wearing West Ham merchandise or West Ham related evidence (please note any merchandise will need to be purchased prior to January 2026).”

Supporters have also been warned that any "digitally altered/artificially enhanced photographs" will not be accepted, along with any submissions from Arsenal fixtures.

West Ham have used similar measures before to try and crack down on away fans sitting in home sections of the London Stadium, particularly for derby matches.

The fixture is likely to be a crucial one for West Ham as well as Arsenal.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side remain firmly in the relegation fight, sitting 18th in the table and a point adrift of safety heading into the final seven matches of the season.

They host bottom club Wolves in the first Premier League match back after the current international break, offering them the chance to move out of the drop zone and leave Tottenham in the bottom three before Spurs travel to Sunderland later in the weekend.
