West Ham paid Karren Brady extra £430,000 for consultancy work last season

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady was paid £438,000 for consultancy work last season on top of her £898,000 salary.

Club accounts also showed co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan collected £2.3m each as interest on loans of £45m.

A West Ham spokesman said the £438,000 for Brady (£365,000 plus VAT) was for work “outside the scope of her role as vice-chairman and paid as an external consultant.”

Meanwhile, Ireland boss Mick McCarthy is hopeful Declan Rice will make a decision on his international future now he has signed a new West Ham deal. Rice can also represent England.

Speaking to Talksport, McCarthy said: “There was a real issue with his contract and that’s sorted, so I guess his head is now clear.

“If he wants to play for me I’ll be delighted, and I’ll be picking him, but I’ve left it with him. I can’t do anymore.

“It’s not my job to decide whether he plays for the Republic of Ireland.”
