West Ham not taking Kidderminster lightly as Michail Antonio gives Hammers selection hint

Michail Antonio is unsure if he will be in the West Ham team to take on Kidderminster Harriers this weekend but is clear the club will not be taking the non-league outfit lightly.

The Hammers travel to Aggborough Stadium on Saturday to take on the National League South side after Russ Penn led his team to a famous win over Championship club Reading in the third round.

Antonio feels like facing a non-league team is a kind draw for West Ham but this does not mean the club will give Kidderminster any less respect than a Premier League opponent.

"I feel like it is a good draw for us, we obviously are going to try to get as far as possible in the cup. Obviously, they got a good win [against Reading] and are doing well so as a team we are not going to go there and disrespect them in any way we are going to go there and give it our all because obviously, they have not got this far by accident, it is by playing well and doing well," Antonio told the BBC's Footballer's Football Podcast.

The striker may be handed a rest this weekend following his recent international commitments while the rest of the Hammers squad were handed a week off during the Premier League winter break.

"I am getting back [from Jamaica international duty] and I am not too sure if I am playing or not because obviously, I have been playing out here quite a bit," he added. "But if I am I will give it my all but if I am not then I will wish the boys good luck and wait to be back involved maybe the following game after that."

Antonio started all three of Jamaica's World Cup qualifying matches playing 220 minutes in the space of six days. The striker found the back of the net from the penalty spot against Panama but was unable to help his country pick up any points. The three defeats leaves Jamaica's hopes of qualifying for their first World Cup since 1998 hanging by a thread.

CONCACAF qualifying ends next month where Antonio, if selected, will head to Jamaica for clashes against El Salvador and Honduras sandwiching a trip to Canada. The final set of qualifiers will see Jamaica play three matches in a week once more making a break for the striker this weekend all the more likely with a hectic schedule on the horizon.
