West Ham news: Tomas Soucek's Van Dijk snub, Anderson's Liverpool performance slammed

After back to back games against Manchester City and Liverpool, West Ham will be looking to get back on track by taking all three points from Saturday's Premier League game against Southampton.

The Hammers will have been encouraged by their performance against the Reds on Monday night, a game which they led with just 22 minutes left to play.

However, goals from Mo Salah and Sadio Mane turned the game around into Liverpool's favour, giving them a 3-2 victory.

Issa Diop and Pablo Fornels were on the scoresheet for West Ham and will be looking for more of the same in the game vs the Saints.

As the players prepare for the match, here is the latest news from the London Stadium.

Players to step up in Soucek's absence

West Ham suffered an injury blow in the defeat to Liverpool on Monday night when new boy Tomas Soucek was forced from the field of play just three minutes into the second half of the game.

It has been revealed that the midfielder will be out for at least three weeks having damaged his hip flexor during the first half of the clash against the Reds.

Soucek has started the last three Premier League games since arriving at the London Stadium, but who can step up in his absence?

Find out here.

Soucek's Van Dijk snub

Despite picking up the injury during the game, Soucek was fit enough to ask Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk for his shirt in the tunnel after the full time whistle.

However, the Czech didn't get in quick enough to get his hands on the shirt, with Van Dijk replying "I’ve given it already to him" pointing at Soucek's replacement Pablo Fornels.

The information left the new Hammer looking disappointed - he will have to get in quicker next time.

Cole slams Anderson

Former West Ham striker Carlton Cole has slammed Filipe Anderson's performance against Liverpool, saying that the midfielder 'didn't look bothered' against the league leaders.

Speaking on The Debate , the former Hammer was not happy with how Anderson played during Monday's game.

"Felipe Anderson for me is a great player but he's just not pulling his weight about, at the moment," he said.

"I don't like to batter my colleagues as footballers, but he should be doing a lot more.

"He's got so much talent but he just didn't look bothered [against Liverpool]. He is an important player for us. I just wanted for him to have a good game and then take that confidence into the next one, which I don't think he really did."
