West Ham news: Man City injury boost, travel chaos for Manchester trip and Winston Reid's future

While the majority of Premier League teams are taking their winter break this weekend, West Ham have one more week to wait before they can take a breather.

The Hammers are in Premier League action against reigning Champions Manchester City on Sunday afternoon as they look to cause an upset and pull themselves out of the relegation zone.

Last week's dramatic 3-3 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion wasn't enough to stop David Moyes' side dropping into the dreaded bottom three.

However, Man City suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham in their last outing, and West Ham will be hoping for a similar result on Sunday.

Premier League match preview: Manchester City v West Ham

Here is the latest news from the London Stadium ahead of the game.

Man City handed double injury boost

Both Bejamin Mendy and John Stones have returned to training for Man City ahead of the visit of West Ham, meaning that both should be available for the weekend's game.

However, there was also some bad news on the injury front fro Pep Guardiola's side, with Raheem Sterling out for 'weeks' with a hamstring injury.

Anderson and Yarmolenko injury update

David Moyes has provided a positive injury update on both Filipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko ahead of the game against Man City.

Both have missed the last few games due to injury problems, but the Hammers' boss has revealed that both have returned to at least some light training.

Travel chaos for Manchester trip

The English weather could cause problems for West Ham fans making their way up to Manchester for the game on Sunday afternoon.

Storm Ciara is due to hit British shores over the weekend, with high winds expected to affect rail services.

Network Rail say: "...journey times will be doubled and customers should travel only if necessary. “The extended journey times also mean the number of trains we can operate is significantly reduced."

Winston Reid's future

Defender Winston Reid could be soon playing his football in America as he looks to move away from the London Stadium in search of some much needed game time.

Injuries have blighted the Kiwi defender's last two seasons, with the 31-year-old only being included in the squad for the past six games.

The West Ham man has been heavily linked with a loan move to MLS side Nashville.

Moyes has given an update on his situation, see what he said here.
