West Ham news LIVE: David Moyes confirmed as new manager on 18-month deal

West Ham’s final match of 2019 proved to be Manuel Pellegrini’s last with the club, as the Hammers wielded the axe following Saturday’s defeat to Leicester City.

The defeat leaves West Ham just one point above the drop zone in the Premier League table, and in the midst of a relegation scrap.

David Moyes is the favourite to succeed Pellegrini after a successful season in charge following the sacking of Slaven Bilic during the 2017-18 season.

West Ham return to action in what has quickly developed into a must-win game at home to Bournemouth on New Year's Day and, interestingly, Cherries boss Eddie Howe is also under consideration, along with Chris Hughton.

A statement from West Ham on Saturday cited the need to “act now” in order to give the new manager as much time as possible to turn things around. But will it be Moyes, or someone else?

Stay tuned to Standard Sport for all the latest news, rumours, reaction and gossip from the London Stadium...
