West Ham news: Jarrod Bowen scores in crucial win over Southampton as fan protests grow

West Ham faced a crucial game in their bid for Premier League survival.

The Hammers hosted Southampton as they looked to move out of the relegation zone and towards the safety of midtable.

David Moyes' team would have taken encouragement from their performance in their last outing against Champions elect Liverpool, where they fell to a 3-2 defeat.

But this time the Hammers came good, climbing to 16th in the Premier League following a spirited display against the Saints.

New signing Jarrod Bowen got his first West Ham goal after just 15 minutes.

Following the game, here is the latest news from the London Stadium.

New signing Jarrod Bowen got his first West Ham goal after just 15 minutes of his first start against Southampton.

And following an equaliser after half an hour by Michael Obafemi, the Hammers were back ahead before half-time, with Sebastien Haller getting on the scoresheet.

The points were wrapped up in the second half when fan-favourite Michail Antonio was sent through one-on-one and converted to give the Hammers an insurmountable lead.

West Ham fans' protests against the clubs' owners grew on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, a number of supporters which police estimated to be around 5,000 marched outside of the stadium to send a simple message.

They have had enough of the club's current ownership.
