West Ham news: January target speaks out and Pep Guardiola's Manchester City promise

It has now been a few days since the Hammers were last in action, but there's not too much longer to wait.

David Moyes men travel to the Etihad Stadium tomorrow night in what could be one of the toughest tests of the season when they take on reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City.

The game was originally due to take place last weekend, but storm Ciara bought safety concerns and meant that the decision was taken to postpone until a later date.

It means that West Ham have a slightly shorter winter break than they first thought with the game against Pep Guardiola's men approaching.

Hammers' target speaks out on failed move

Reported West Ham January target Joakim Maehle has spoken out about the interest in his during the winter window.

The Danish right-back was said to be a target for the Hammers, with some reports suggesting that a bid was even made. However, the full-back stayed at Genk, and he has spoken to De Zongag talked about his disappointment of not getting a move to the Premier League.

"It is not surprising that Berge and Samatta are now also gone. We know the club’s strategy, it’s a good thing for everyone. That I had to stay was a disappointment, yes. I am ambitious, watched those beautiful foreign clubs pass by … We were champions, that does not work every year, perhaps this was my chance. But they said no."

Pep Guardiola addresses future

It has been a dramatic few days for Manchester City, with the club facing a two-season ban from the Champions League after they were deemed to have breached Financial Fair Play rules.

The ban led to speculation that manager Pep guardiola may walk away from the club at the end of the season, but the Spaniard has delivered a defiant message ahead of the clash against West Ham.

However, according to Sky Sports News, the Spaniard has promised to stay at the Etihad Stadium, even if they were in League Two.

West Ham to rival Inter Miami for midfielder

The Hammers are interested in Boca Juniors midfielder Agustin Almendra, but face competition from David Beckham's MLS side Inter Miani, according to reports.

Tuttomercatoweb state that West Ham are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, who is said to be available for around £15 million.

However, other reports (Ole) claim that Inter Miami have identified the young Argentinian as one of their main targets.
