West Ham midfielder Samir Nasri primed for timely injury comeback as club consider his future

Samir Nasri is in contention to return from his latest calf problem against Southampton on Saturday as West Ham weigh up whether to take up an option to extend his contract.

Nasri has not played for six weeks but is fit again for the final two games of the season.

The 31-year-old signed a six-month deal when he joined West Ham in January and Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini will make a decision on his future at the end of the season.

Nasri aggravated his calf injury during the half-time warm-up at Chelsea earlier this month and there are still some question marks over his fitness.

He joined West Ham after serving an 18-month doping ban and had been without a club for a year after leaving Turkish club Antalyaspor.

Nasri, the former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder, has made just four starts and two substitute appearances since joining West Ham.
