Jack Wilshere has outlined what he believes are the key differences between Liverpool and Manchester City.
The West Ham midfielder explained how both teams play and expects them to be the top two fighting for the Premier League title again this season.
The Reds opened their campaign with a 4-1 win over Norwich at Anfield while City beat the Hammers 5-0 at the London Stadium.
“ City do that counter press,” Wilshere told the Mirror .
“They lose the ball and bang, they go straight away. They’re going to make fouls.
“You can’t get frustrated. You have to hope the referee takes care of it. They are clever players. A team like us, who like to attack, could learn from that.
“I like the way City play and keep the ball - but Liverpool play with more intensity and are more direct.
“They don’t have the possession City have, but they are effective. You would go with City because they are the champions. But Liverpool are European champions.
"They were the best two last year. City have added, Liverpool haven’t. But Liverpool’s squad was good anyway. It won’t be easy for anyone playing against them.”
West Ham host Liverpool on December 21.
