West Ham loanee Jesse Lingard drops hint over Manchester United future

Jesse Lingard has dropped a hint about his future as the Manchester United forward prepares for his final outing at loan club West Ham.

The 28-year-old has kick-started his career at the London Stadium, scoring nine Premier League goals in addition to laying on five assists in 15 appearances for the Hammers.

It's a remarkable run of form and a return which saw Lingard recalled to the England squad in March.

He also scooped 'Player of the Month' across the entire Premier League for April - having been nominated as many four times for the same award since a January switch.

As attentions turn to the summer transfer window, speculation over Lingard continues to spiral, with the Hammers and Tottenham among several clubs being linked with a permanent move.

Speaking to the West Ham club website ahead of a crunch final day encounter with Southampton - which could see the Hammers qualify for the Europa League next season - the United academy graduate has opened up about how he has benefited from life in the capital.

Lingard said: "It's been great, I've made a lot of new people and made a countless number of friends, so to take on this challenge has been amazing and to take away the memories will be special.

"It's been a different experience and I think a new environment is always good. A change can always be good for your mind and it's been like a refresh - and a fresh start - for me.

"I've obviously visited London on my days off, but when you're living here, there are lots of things you can do and lots of places you can go. There are a lot more people, which is a lot different to Manchester."

On his loan spell with the Hammers, Lingard added: "The lads have been brilliant, the staff have been brilliant and they've put confidence in me to play and do well. I was already ready to play from months ago. To play the first game at Villa seems a lifetime ago, now that we're near the end of the season, but it's been a brilliant experience and I'll take away so many memories."
