West Ham interested in RB Salzburg's Rasmus Nissen Kristensen as right-back search widens

West Ham have registered an interest in RB Salzburg’s Rasmus Kristensen as the club widens its search for a right-back before the transfer window closes on Friday.

David Moyes’s side have already had a structured £10m bid with add-ons rejected for Nottingham Forest’s Matty Cash, who has also attracted interest from AC Milan.

Tottenham’s Kyle Walker-Peters is an option on loan, with Crystal Palace also interested, however, it’s thought that Southampton are currently frontrunners for the 22-year-old.

Kristensen, 22, won the Eredivisie with Ajax last season, but only made 20 league appearances in 18 months at the club and struggled to usurp Noussair Mazraoui before American teenager Sergino Dest emerged from the academy.

Kristensen joined Salzburg for an undisclosed fee - believed to be over the €5m initially paid by Ajax - on a five-year contract in July and started each of their Champions League group stage games, including the club’s two defeats against Liverpool.

The former Danish youth international is currently recovering from a thigh strain suffered on 20 January, however, Salzburg confirmed the injury was only expected to keep Kristensen out for 10 days.

Veteran Pablo Zabaleta has started West Ham’s last three Premier League games, with first-choice Ryan Fredericks currently ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
