West Ham injury update as David Moyes faces nervous Jesse Lingard wait ahead of Burnley clash

West Ham United are fifth in the table with just five games to play but their Champions League hopes hang in the balance after news of another injury concern.

Jesse Lingard is the latest Hammer to have found himself on the treatment table with The Sun reporting he is a doubt for the trip to Burnley next week.

Luckily for West Ham boss David Moyes his side do not play until Monday evening so his star attacking has an extra few days to recuperate from his 'aching legs'.

Lingard was substituted with moments to go against Newcastle on April 17 with what Moyes said was 'cramp' and the 28-year-old was fully fit to start against Chelsea the following week.

Mid-way through the first half Lingard was seen hobbling after a clash with a Blues defender but the issue did not seem to hamper his efforts for the remainder of the top five clash.

However, according to reports, Lingard underwent intensive treatment last week just to make sure he was available for the clash with Chelsea.

But the midfielder is still being hampered by the problem, raising concern that he will not recover in time to face Burnley on Monday.

The Hammers Champions League hopes have been beset with injury woe of late with Declan Rice unavailable for the previous four matches after picking up a knee injury on England duty.

Michail Antonio joined Rice on the sidelines in the first game back after the international break and has played no part in the Hammer's previous three matches.

West Ham have won two and lost two of their past four matches with Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell absent for the two defeats.

Moyes has maintained that all four players will play a part at some point before the end of the season but has consistently refused to put a 'timeframe' on their return.

The boss was 'hopeful' Cresswell would be fit for the Chelsea clash but the 31-year-old was not deemed fit enough ahead of the game.

Recent pictures from West Ham's Rush Green training ground have seen both Rice and Cresswell on the pitches running.

However, eagle-eyed Hammers fans spotted Rice was only in trainers and not football boots meaning it is unlikely he has yet returned to ball work and the Burnley looks to be too soon for the vice-captain returns.

One man who will be available is Fabian Balbuena, the defender saw red against Chelsea after a VAR review deemed his collision with Ben Chilwell sending off worthy.

However, for the second time this season West Ham have had a red card overturned on appeal and the Paraguayan will no longer face the three-game ban that comes with a straight red card.
