West Ham injury doubt for Wolves fixture spotted in training photos in boost for David Moyes

West Ham injury doubt Angelo Ogbonna has been pictured in training as a boost for David Moyes ahead of the game against Wolves on Saturday.

The Italian international missed both friendly games last week against Queen’s Park Rangers and Crystal Palace with an unspecified problem but pictures have been released of the Hammers training - with Ogbonna involved.

The centre back is firmly in the running for Hammer of the Year after enjoying a strong campaign despite West Ham’s relegation battle as Ogbonna has ousted Fabian Balbuena to form the centre back partnership with Issa Diop.

When Ogbonna missed the first friendly against QPR, football.london revealed it was injury related though the club has kept quiet on the details of what Ogbonna was struggling with.

Football.London understands that Ogbonna is the only current injury doubt in the squad though there are a few knocks and niggles within the team but it is not expected to keep the players out of action.

Aaron Cresswell has suffered a problem but he has since recovered and played half an hour against Palace last week.

However, in a boost to Moyes and the Hammers fans ahead of their return against Wolves on Saturday, Ogbonna looks like he could have a chance of making the match.

Fabian Balbuena would have likely taken Ogbonna’s place had he not been but Declan Rice may well have been pushed back to centre half instead to play alongside Diop.

Defence will be on the major concerns for Moyes on Saturday, with Ryan Fredericks now fit after a long-term injury but having not played for five months. Jeremy Ngakia's contract situation could count against him in the race for a right back spot, with Ben Johnson also competiitng for it but he too has had an injury-plagued season.

Moyes will give a full update on the status of his squad when he reveals the injury news at his first pre-match press conference since March on Friday afternoon, which will be held over the Zoom platform.
