West Ham injury boost as Angleo Ogbonna and Arthur Masuaku move closer to return

West Ham have been handed some good injury news at the back as they head into the final stages of the season still in the race for the Champions League.

David Moyes says Angelo Ogbonna is "doing great" as he recovers from ankle injury, while Arthur Masuaku is also closing in on a return.

Ogbonna, who had been an instrumental part of West Ham's rise into European contention until injury at Manchester United in the FA Cup, has returned to working in the gym at the club's training ground.

Masuaku has not featured since early December, having undergone knee surgery.

Asked about their progress, Moyes said: "Angelo is doing great, Angelo is back. He is in the gym regularly and he is out of his boot. We’re expecting him to start doing some running, on the Ultra-G which is the machine which takes a bit of your body weight off.

“I am hoping that by the end of the international break we might have him back on the grass in some capacity. There are signs that we are getting him back.

"Arthur has trained this week with the U23s, he has trained a couple of times with me so Arthur is getting much closer to match fitness and all-round fitness generally."
