West Ham have ‘one or two’ Covid cases ahead of Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham

West Ham have recorded Covid cases among their coaching staff ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham.

But David Moyes confirmed on Tuesday that the Hammers have only had “one or two” positive tests and that most of his squad “are very good”.

West Ham face Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday.

Asked whether Covid is impacting his team, Moyes said: “We’re very good. The training ground has been very good and most are okay. We have got one or two with the virus, but most are very good and long may that continue.

“A lot of us are all double-jabbed and boosted. We’ve got some staff members with the virus, some with no symptoms. It’s not just players or coaches it’s everybody in society. We have to do everything we can to keep everyone healthy and safe.”

West Ham’s Premier League fixture against Norwich on Saturday was postponed and the club took advantage of an unexpected day off to get players and staff jabbed.

Rather than giving his squad the day off, manager David Moyes and his medical staff decided to encourage players and staff members to get jabbed at the club’s Rush Green training ground.

The squad reported for training on Saturday and while there were given the chance to use the vaccination hub which had been set up on site.
