West Ham have 'big hopes' for Republic of Ireland youth star Mipo Odubeko

West Ham have ‘big hopes’ for Irish youth international Mipo Odubeko who made his senior debut this week.

The Dubliner joined the Hammers in October 2019 having previously been at Manchester United and Manchester City, who snapped him up from St Joseph's Boys.

Odubeko, 18, has been a prolific scorer for West Ham’s underage sides and made his bow off the bench in Monday’s FA Cup win away to Stockport County.

That followed a four-month spell on the sidelines and the forward could yet profit from Sebastien Haller’s absence after he was sold to Dutch giants Ajax.

West Ham boss David Moyes said today: "Mipo is somebody we’re looking forward to working with. We have big hopes for him.

“It has been tough for young players who have struggled at this present time because of the lack of regular training, continued break-ups of Academies due to people needing to isolate and irregular game programmes because of the situation we’re in.

"He’s just back from a long-term hamstring injury too, but we like him a lot and we’ll try to bring him along at the right time and when we think we need him."
