West Ham handed transfer boost as striker moves 'a step closer' to summer exit

Former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko could be a step closer to a return to the Premier League this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Bosnian striker has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham in recent months, with Dzeko's former boss at Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini, said to be keen on a reunion with the 33-year-old.

But West Ham are not the only club to have been linked with signing the Roma striker, with Everton and Inter Milan also said to be among the interested parties.

And the latest reports from Italy suggest that Dzeko will be on the move this summer, with Corriere Dello Sport reporting that the Bosnian is a step closer to leaving the Stadio Olimpico after enduring a difficult season with Roma.

Dzeko has netted 12 times for Roma in all competitions so far this season, but has not scored a goal at home in Serie A since last April.

Roma have struggled in recent weeks, exiting the Champions League at the hands of Porto, before taking just one point from their last four games in the league.

Fans of the club have expressed their dismay at the performances in recent weeks, and the latest reports suggest that Dzeko could be sold in the summer, with the Bosnian having one year left on his contract.

West Ham line up five potential London Stadium pre-season opponents ahead of 2019/20 season

That could pave the way for a return to the Premier League, with West Ham set to revive their interest in signing the former City man, having been strongly linked with him in January.

A move failed to materialise then, but it is being reported in Italy that a fee in the region of €15m could see it happen this summer.
