West Ham flop Jordan Hugill set to join Queens Park Rangers as Bristol City look elsewhere

A touted Bristol City target is set to join one of their Championship rivals as the Robins turn their attentions elsewhere.

West Ham flop Jordan Hugill is on the verge of bringing his miserable spell in east London to an end, on a temporary basis at least.

The 27-year-old is due to have a medical at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday ahead of a season-long loan move.

Hugill's name has been mentioned in dispatches as City go in search of a new striker, but it seems they have prioritised other targets - namely Arsenal 's Eddie Nketiah, Sheffield Wednesday's Lucas Joao and Kieffer Moore of Barnsley.

The Robins were interested in signing Hugill back in January 2018 until he ultimately decided to move to the top flight from Preston North End.

He played just 35 minutes of Premier League football in three substitute appearances before being shipped out on loan to Middlesbrough last season.

The forward struggled to emulate the form in the  Championship  that saw the east London club splash around £10m to take him to the Olympic Stadium, scoring six times in 37 appearances.

Bristol City head coach  Lee Johnson  has made no secret of his desire to sign at least one more attacker this summer, but the search is proving difficult .
