West Ham ‘find fan who racially abused Liverpool star Mohamed Salah’

West Ham believe they have identified the man who racially abused Mohamed Salah.

The club confirmed on Thursday they have handed evidence to the police and Standard Sport understands they have identified a man after examining CCTV footage.

A video emerged in which a man can be heard directing Islamophobic abuse at Liverpool forward Salah as he takes a corner during Monday’s 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.

West Ham described the treatment of the striker as “abhorrent” and vowed to ban for life anybody found guilty of racial abuse, adding: “The club is unequivocal in its stance — such abuse will not be tolerated. There is no place or excuse for this kind of behaviour.”
