West Ham fans love what Jesse Lingard has done on England duty

Jesse Lingard's incredible start to life at West Ham was been recognised and rewarded by England manager Gareth Southgate who recalled him to the Three Lions squad for the first time since 2019.

Following five goals and three assists in seven games in the claret and blue Lingard's call up by Southgate for national duty came as no surprise and one that he has fully earned.

The attacking-midfielder found himself sidelined at Old Trafford by Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and the player decided he needed to move on if he wanted to get his career back on track.

The loan transfer to West Ham could not have gone any better for the 28-year-old. Two goals on his debut against Aston Villa followed by another three in the next six matches have already made Lingard a fan favourite but what the star did on England duty had made him even more popular.

As Lingard arrived at St. George's Park and climbed out of the car dropping him off many Hammers fans noticed he was decked out in a full West ham tracksuit and Irons fans loved it.

In contrast, the rest of the squad were all in non-club gear and some Hammers fans have seen Lingard's clothing choice as an indication of his happiness with the club and even a sign he wants to stay next season.

Whilst that may be looking a bit too deeply into things there is no doubting that Lingard seems to have a spring in his step and is loving life at the London Stadium.

With nine games left in the season if West Ham can secure European football for the 2021-22 campaign their chances of bringing Lingard to the club permanently will be sure to increase.

Lingard's return to the England fold can only be a good sign for West Ham as it shows to the player that despite not currently being involved in European football Southgate will consider any player as long as they are playing regularly and on form.

Lingard is most definitely on form and at West Ham, he will continue to be one of the first names on the teamsheet instead of at best a squad player at Manchester United. His England future will certainly benefit from regular Premier League minutes and European football at the London Stadium would further enhance his international credentials.

It is now up to West Ham to provide him with European football and agree a deal that will please all fans and keep Linagrd in London.
